﷯Brandi is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with the state of West Virginia. She has been providing counseling since 2000 to a variety of populations, including outpatient and inpatient. Brandi has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University as well as a bachelor’s in Psychology and Journalism. She has completed all requirements (two years of clinical supervision, passage of the Social Work Board of Examiners clinical exam, and three honorable references) and received certification as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the State of West Virginia. During Brandi’s master’s education, she completed a 10-month internship at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, WV, where she worked with inpatient clients, individually and in groups, who had been hospitalized for severe psychological distress. Upon graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh and worked at Family Counseling Center in Kittanning, PA as a psychotherapist. She treated clients for various conditions including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and multiple life issues. Brandi moved back to Fairmont in 2003 and started at United Summit Center where she worked extensively with families and loved ones of alcoholics/addicts in addition to clients with depression and anxiety. In late 2004, she became an outpatient therapist at a private practice in Bridgeport and Fairmont, WV. She left there in 2006 to research and pursue private practice, and continued to counsel a few clients pro bono. Brandi’s approach is to provide support and feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. She can incorporate a variety of techniques within counseling, but primarily uses cognitive-behavioral and empowerment therapies. She tailors specifically to the client and what would be best for that individual.
Education: Master of Social Work; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; Bachelor of Science in Journalism; all from West Virginia University Professional Activities and Memberships: National Association of Social Work; Provider with www.giveanhour.org, a free service which connects returning veterans to mental health services. Brandi was raised and educated, and has worked in West Virginia for most of her life. She has a special understanding of the unique socioeconomic and cultural dynamics of living and thriving in the mountain state. She resides in Fairmont with her husband, daughter and animals.
